Latest Bikinis

We’ve been talking to the buyers and creators of this year’s swimwear collections to find out what has been the inspiration behind the new season’s look: The themes, the colours, the shapes and the all important detailing.

It seems that our beachwear this year will have a distinctly retro look and feel. Fifties glam, sixties and seventies hip all return in full swing with a triple take.

Hippie has been re-invented with “Boho Chic”. This is swimwear with a fine mix of vintage paisleys and intricate patterns. The look is layered and effortless. String bikinis have embroidery, beading or crochet detail and are paired with sheer semi-transparent cover-ups, big floppy hats and outsize bags. Don’t forget the multiple strands of mini glass or wooden beads as a necklace or a bracelet to finish the look.

Fifties glam is reworked as a cute, “pin-up” look with feminine shapes and sexy lingerie inspired detailing. Swimwear features skirted bottoms with frilled edging and push-up underwire tops with girly flower embellishments. It’s easy to wear and is flattering and flirty, whatever your body shape especially with all the new sarongs and silk scarves that can be worn as cover-ups.

Sixties inspired “abstract” is also huge this year. Big bold shapes are cut out from one-piece suits accentuating hips and waist with ring accents in bikini tops and bottoms to enhance curves. Strong geometric patterns and animal prints in a range of funky colours really get you noticed! The look is confident and loud – no frills, no fuss. Compliment with cool flip flops, oversize sun glasses and a simple bag with a strong graphic print.

All this season’s themes are complimented with an amazing selection of cover-ups from gorgeous silk batik print kaftans and sarongs to embroidered wraps. We love them all – they look great on and off the beach, compliment the fuller figure and give that all important sun protection.
